NOW Beta-Alanine features CarnoSyn®, a patented form of Beta-Alanine, a non-essential amino acid used by the muscles to manufacture Carnosine. CarnoSyn® has been shown to increase levels of Carnosine, helping the muscles to work harder and for longer periods during intensive physical exercise.

Precautions
Beta-Alanine may cause a harmless, temporary tingling sensation on the skin for some individuals. After a few weeks of supplementation with Beta-Alanine, this sensation normally lessens or subsides.
- Beta-alanine supports anaerobic endurance of the muscles. By helping increase the production of Carnosine, Beta-alanine supplements increase the muscle’s total buffer capacity. This mechanism improves muscle performance during long hours of intensive exercise. Studies also confirm that Beta-alanine can optimise threshold to exhaustion.
- Beta-alanine appears to improve one’s capacity for exercise and bodybuilding activities. It can be used as sports supplements by athletes and body builders when training harder and longer. Scientific studies on Beta-alanine found out that it improves intracellular buffering capacity during physical exercise, increasing exercise capacity and performance. A related study discovered that Beta-alanine supplementation appears to enhance muscle endurance during exercise and intense physical training.
- Beta-alanine helps with improved aerobic endurance. Athletes who are into aerobic exercises like cycling can benefit from Beta-Alanine, says a study published in “Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise” April 2009 issue. The study found out that Beta-Alanine improved sprint performance in cyclists.
- Beta-Alanine supplements promote healthy muscle mass. Beta-Alanine’s ability to boost carnosine levels in the muscles is essential for achieving muscle strength, creating lean body mass, and improving endurance gains. A study discovered that use of Beta-Alanine supplements together with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) showed significant improvements in lean body mass compared to HIIT alone.
Beta-Alanine is a non-essential amino acid that exhibit benefits for the muscles and sports performance. As one of the non-essential amino acids, the body produces its own supply of Beta-alanine so it doesn’t have to be provided in the diet. Clinical tests on Beta-Alanine revealed that it helps increase the levels of Carnosine in the muscles. Carnosine is a compound made of the amino acids alanine and histidine, which works by acting as a buffering agent to optimize ph in the muscles to delay muscular failure. More importantly, high levels of carnosine in the muscles have been shown to improve endurance and performance during long periods of work outs, exercise, and intense physical training. Beta-Alanine supplements are widely used for sports nutrition and as sports supplements, helping physically active individuals like athletes and body builders to endure physical training without damaging the muscles. Instead, beta-alanine even supports muscle strength and healthy development of muscle mass. Now Foods Beta-Alanine uses a proprietary form of Beta-Alanine called CarnoSyn® for endurance and support sports performance and body building activities.
